Freedom School

Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro, Inc. has worked alongside the Children’s Defense Fund  to bring you Greensboro's first CDF Freedom School. Freedom School is a literacy based summer enrichment program that focuses on helping your children fall in love with reading, increase their self-esteem, and generate more positive attitudes toward learning - become scholars. Children are taught using a model curriculum that supports children and families around five essential components:

·         High quality academic enrichment

·         Parent and family involvement

·         Civic engagement and social action

·         Intergenerational leadership development

·         Nutrition health and mental health

Scholars will have the opportunity to engage in afternoon enrichment activities such as, The Arts, Technology, and Nutrition. In addition we plan an off-site activity each Friday for our scholars to engage in weekly.
